As always, the truck category in the Morocco Desert Challenge will be well filled, with 15 racing vehicles already registered. In the 2023 edition of the MDC, this field was mainly dominated by IVECO and DAF. However, that will change in 2024, today 3 #TATRA trucks are already registered.
Two of these TATRA trucks belong to the Slovak Kazarka team. As a two-time participant in the Dakar Classic category, team founder Radovan Kazarka is no newcomer. In 2023, he secured 3rd place in the Dakar Classic truck category with the Tatra Puma.
In MDC2024, Radovan Kazarka himself will be behind the wheel of his Tatra Puma together with none other than Czech navigator and Dakar legend Josef Kalina and mechanic Pavlo Zachar. Mr. Kalina is of course a big name in the world of rally raids. His career has spanned almost 4 decades, with his first Paris-Dakar rally going back to 1985. However, his greatest achievement has to be his 3 Dakar victories in the truck category alongside the legendary Karel Loprais.
In the second Tatra, Kazarka's son Tomáš will appear as a navigator together with pilot Robert Kasak and mechanic Ales Janku.
