South Racing, Erik van Loon and Sébastien Delaunay at the start of the MDC2024

He witnessed the previous MDC from the sidelines, acting as a coach for his wife Anja during her debut in the race truck. But in April 2024, ex-FIA Priority Driver Erik Van Loon (55) will once again pick up the helmet. Together with his regular navigator, 42-year-old Frenchman Sébastien Delaunay, he will participate in the Morocco Desert Challenge – Coast-2-Coast, with a Side-by-Side specially built for them.

"Because we still have to wait for the T3 version of the newest Can-Am, we are building one ourselves based on my previous FIA Maverick X3. It will have a new 1000 cc engine, a semi-automatic gearbox with 6 gears, and large 32-inch tires. With this combination and our experience, we can certainly aim for the podium," says Erik.

For the construction and service of the new vehicle, Van Loon relies on South Racing.
With 80 SSVs at the start of the MDC2024, it promises to be a great competition. We wish Erik & Sébastien all the best."
